Kailash Manasarovar Yatra 2026 | Part 6: North Face Darshan & Kailash Abhishek

Part 6 continues from our first clear darshan of Mount Kailash’s West Face and takes us deeper into the first day of the parikrama. As the clouds begin to lift, Kailash finally reveals itself clearly. The trail ahead is quiet, cold and incredibly beautiful — with yaks, sheep, rabbits, monks and pilgrims moving through the high-altitude landscape. We continue towards Deraphuk, where the magnificent North Face of Mount Kailash comes into view. Reaching Deraphuk becomes one of the most emotional moments of the entire yatra for us. We are able to make it there together as a family, despite the altitude and the physical difficulty of the journey. My father had been struggling with low oxygen levels, but still managed to reach Deraphuk with us. Because of the altitude, however, he had to stop his onward parikrama and return to Darchen. We had hoped to complete the entire parikrama together, but simply reaching the North Face of Kailash as a family felt like a blessing in itself. And then something happened that none of us were expecting. A large cloud gathered above Mount Kailash, and soon after, multiple snow avalanches began cascading down different parts of the mountain. Watching them flow down the slopes looked almost like nature itself was performing Abhishek on Mahadev. The moment was so overwhelming that I completely forgot to switch on my camera. Thankfully, Prasad from our group managed to capture it on his phone. We ended the episode by simply letting that moment play out. No explanation. No narration. Just Kailash.
