The 2026 Ford Expedition Platinum is the luxury flagship of Ford's full-size SUV lineup, combining the enormous space and towing capability of a traditional American body-on-frame SUV with an exceptionally upscale cabin and a huge amount of modern technology. For 2026, it continues the redesigned fifth-generation Expedition introduced for 2025, retaining its bold exterior, dramatically upgraded interior, advanced digital displays, sophisticated driver-assistance systems, and powerful twin-turbocharged V6 powertrain.
The paint is finished in a Oxford White exterior and large dark-finished alloy wheels. It has the imposing presence of a traditional full-size SUV while looking considerably more modern and upscale than previous Expeditions.
From the front, the Expedition Platinum makes its intentions clear. Its tall, wide nose features a large black grille with intricate detailing, the Ford oval centered within it, and EXPEDITION lettering prominently displayed across the leading edge of the hood. Slim LED headlamps sit at either side of the grille, giving the SUV a sophisticated, technical appearance.
The side profile is unmistakably Expedition: long, tall, and exceptionally substantial. Large doors and expansive glass maximize interior visibility, while the black window trim and dark wheels contrast nicely against the white bodywork. The available power-deployable running boards make climbing into the cabin considerably easier and tuck away beneath the body when the doors are closed.
At the rear, the Expedition features modern LED lighting, a large powered liftgate, and Ford's clever Split Gate, consisting of a powered upper liftgate and lower tailgate. This makes loading groceries, luggage, camping equipment, or other cargo easier while also creating a convenient platform at the rear.
Inside, the Platinum transforms the Expedition into a genuinely luxurious three-row environment.
The cabin is finished in Black Onyx, with soft-touch surfaces, metallic accents, premium trim, and carefully integrated technology throughout. Rather than feeling like a traditional truck-based SUV, the dashboard has the appearance of a modern luxury vehicle.
The centerpiece is the enormous panoramic 24-inch digital display, which stretches across the dashboard ahead of the driver. It provides critical driving information while also incorporating navigation and other functions. A separate central touchscreen handles infotainment and vehicle controls.
The Platinum's standard configuration provides seating for seven, with front and second-row captain's chairs and a third-row bench. This gives the second row a more executive, lounge-like character while preserving genuine three-row passenger capacity.
The front seats are designed for long-distance comfort, with heating and ventilation, while the second row receives heated seating. Multiple USB-C connections, wireless smartphone charging, sophisticated climate controls, and premium audio further reinforce the Platinum's role as the Expedition's luxury-oriented trim.
Technology is one of the biggest strengths of the 2026 Expedition Platinum.
The enormous digital dashboard provides a huge amount of information without requiring the driver to constantly look toward the center console. Navigation, vehicle information, media, and other functions can be displayed prominently within the driver's view.
Ford's connected infotainment system supports modern smartphone integration and built-in connected services, while the available Bang & Olufsen audio system provides a substantially more premium listening experience.
The Expedition also offers Ford Co-Pilot360 driver-assistance technology, including features designed to assist with lane positioning, collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, and highway driving. BlueCruise is also available, allowing compatible highways to be driven hands-free while the system monitors the driver and controls steering, acceleration, and braking.
Under the hood, the standard 2026 Expedition Platinum uses Ford's 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6.
It produces:
400 horsepower
480 lb-ft of torque
10-speed automatic transmission
Available 4x4
Up to 9,600 pounds of conventional towing capacity when properly equipped
That makes the Expedition surprisingly potent for something this large. The abundant low-end torque allows it to accelerate confidently even with a full cabin and makes it particularly well suited to towing.
In short, the 2026 Ford Expedition Platinum is a massive, luxurious, technologically advanced American SUV that manages to blend Lincoln-like comfort, truck-level capability, family-friendly practicality, and modern Ford technology into one imposing package.
