If you've ever tried to learn pandas, you've probably felt overwhelmed by how many ways there are to do the exact same thing. Slicing rows, selecting columns, mapping values—it gets confusing fast.
In this video, we're breaking down Pandas from the ground up, using the intuitive Kaggle-style approach to master the core fundamentals: creating DataFrames, reading files, precise indexing with .loc and .iloc, summary functions, maps, grouping, and handling missing data.
By the end, navigating, filtering, and summarizing any dataset will feel like second nature. All the code is in the course GitHub repo.
📌 In this video:
Creating DataFrames from scratch and reading messy files (read_csv)
Native column selection vs. index-based .iloc and label-based .loc filtering
Running statistical summary functions (.describe(), .value_counts())
Transforming values with .map()
Cleaning and handling missing data (.isna(), .fillna())
Aggregating data using .groupby()

⚙️ Setup: run pip install -r requirements.txt from the repo root, then run python module-01-python/video-1.4-pandas-part-1/generate_data.py to create the practice files.
📝 Homework: three challenges in module-01-python/video-1.4-pandas-part-1/challenges.py covering file reading, indexing, and missing data cleaning. Solutions go up 24 hours after this video.
