From the nucl.ai 2016 conference, Laurent Delayen shows how Epic Games brings a Hero from Paragon to life. With a programming focus, this talk shows and explains all the pieces involved in animating a real time character in Paragon.
Laurent presents trade-offs, details the locomotion system, the various layers used and the processing done to support the Hero design.
Find out how Distance Matching is used to synchronize the animation to the motion of the character. Learn how Speed Warping, Orientation Warping and Slope Warping are used to increase animation coverage when it doesn't exist in the source data.
