Ryan and Vicky reminisce about Christmas with Steven. Ryan tells Vicky about his man-to-man talk with Steven earlier. Vicky tells Ryan that Steven misses him very much and thinks of him as a father. Ryan reminds Vicky that Steven already has a father--Jamie--and that Ryan isn't the best role model for Steven. Wouldn't Vicky rather have her son grow up to be a responsible doctor-type person than an ex-cop with an indictment hanging over his head? Vicky says she wants her son to be happy, and Ryan makes him happy. Ryan says if he were still a cop, he could go after Carl legally and clear his name, but now that Carl's name is attached to his, his name isn't worth much. Ryan believes that Spencer sees him as living proof of Spencer's wife's betrayal. Vicky asks Ryan if he knows that for sure, and Ryan says no, he doesn't know anything for sure, because he's lived with lies for all this time. Vicky tells Ryan that he is nothing like Carl, that he's like Spencer, and that because Spencer raised him, Spencer is his father. She urges Ryan to remember who he is and stop second-guessing himself, telling him that they can't play the "would have, could have, should have" game now. They have to deal with what they know. Vicky tells Ryan she wants him to back. Ryan says it's too late, and tells Vicky she can't change him. Vicky says that everyone who loves Ryan is trying to make up for wronging him--Spencer, Grant, her. But Ryan is all wrapped up in the past. Vicky tells Ryan to let go of some of that baggage and start living. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.
