Prof. Litty Chacko | Sangamagrama Madhavan | Researcher | Misfits | Interview | Scholar

In this episode of Misfits, Prof. Litty Chacko unpacks the forgotten legacy of Sangamagrama Madhavan, the 14th-century Kerala mathematician who anticipated modern calculus centuries before Newton and Leibniz. She shares her personal research journey—from deciphering ancient palm-leaf manuscripts to bridging traditional Indian astronomy with contemporary mathematical proofs. Together, we explore why the Kerala School of Mathematics was overlooked by global history and how dedicated scholarship is rewriting the story of scientific discovery. 00:00 - Introduction 01:40 - ബാല്യകാല കൗതുകങ്ങളും ശാസ്ത്രത്തോടുള്ള താൽപര്യവും 05:00 - നാടൻകഥകളും മാധവന്റെ ചരിത്രവും 08:50 - മാധവന്റെ ഇല്ലം: ഇരിങ്ങാടപ്പിള്ളി മനയോ കൂടല്ലൂരോ? 11:50 - കൊളോണിയൽ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും മറക്കപ്പെട്ട കേരളീയ ഗണിതപാരമ്പര്യവും 14:00 - പോർച്ചുഗീസ് ഇടപെടലുകളും പാരമ്പര്യ അറിവുകളുടെ നിരോധനവും 19:30 - ഇന്ത്യയിൽനിന്ന് ലോകത്തേക്ക് പടർന്ന ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞാനം 23:40 - ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്രവും കേരളീയ ജീവിതരീതികളും 25:00 - കൊളോണിയൽ ചരിത്രവായനയും അറിവിന്റെ തുടർച്ചയും 26:30 - ഭാഷയ്ക്കുള്ളിൽ ഗണിതത്തെ ഒളിപ്പിച്ചുവെച്ച രീതികൾ 28:00 - ഭൂതസംഖ്യയും കവിതകളിലെ ഗണിതസൂചനകളും 32:00 - പാരമ്പര്യ ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളിലെ ഗണിതസൂത്രങ്ങളും സംഖ്യാവ്യവസ്ഥയും 37:00 - ലിറ്റി ചാക്കോയുടെ ഗവേഷണയാത്രയും കണ്ടെത്തലുകളും 40:00 - മാധവൻ വിസ്മരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതിന്റെ കാരണങ്ങൾ 42:00 - യുക്തിയും ശാസ്ത്രീയ ചിന്തയും മാധവന്റെ പാരമ്പര്യവും 43:20 - ഗോളവാദവും വേണുവാരോഹത്തിലെ ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്രവും 46:00 - മലയാളം കലണ്ടർ, വിഷു, കാലഗണന എന്നിവ 48:00 - ലഗ്നപ്രകരണം: മാധവന്റെതായി കരുതപ്പെടുന്ന ഗ്രന്ഥം 50:30 - നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട ഏഴാം അധ്യായത്തിന്റെ അപ്രതീക്ഷിത കണ്ടെത്തൽ 53:00 - താളിയോലകളിലൂടെ മാധവന്റെ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിലേക്ക് Credits: Producer & Anchor: Sethu P Sudhakaran Assistant Producer: Hari A Suresh Editor: Vyshnav Gopinath Camera: Jay & Sanjay Sathyan Team Indywood: Steve Sebastian, Sanghavi Ravikumar, Muhammed Fayiz, Hari A Suresh Creative Head: Aneej P Jayan Follow Indywood on IG & FB: @indywood.live #Indywood #littychacko #sangamagramamadhavan #researcher #mathematician #scholar #indywoodmisfits
