The game blends exploration, questing, and tactical turn-based combat. Gameplay alternates between first-person dungeon crawling and overhead battlefield encounters, delivering the deep strategic feel that defined the Gold Box engine. Careful party management, spell selection, and positioning are essential for survival. The game expands on its predecessor with richer quests, more character classes, and improved balance, including options such as paladins and rangers. Its design closely mirrors tabletop AD&D, offering strong replay value and long-term depth. Visually, the C64 version presents detailed character portraits, clear dungeon layouts, and functional combat screens that prioritise readability and gameplay. The presentation supports long play sessions without sacrificing clarity. While demanding by modern standards, Curse of the Azure Bonds stands as one of the most ambitious RPGs on the Commodore 64. It remains a beloved entry in the Gold Box series and a favourite among retro RPG fans. Today, it’s remembered as a landmark fantasy adventure that helped define computer role-playing on 8-bit systems. 💬 Did you complete this epic journey back in the day, or are you tackling it for the first time now? ▶️ PLAYLISTS Role-Playing Games:    • Role Playing Games – Fantasy Quests, Dunge...   Strategic Simulations Inc:    • Strategic Simulations Inc. – Legendary Str...   💙 SUPPORT & CONNECT Patreon:   / cheekycommodoregamer   Join:    / @cheekycommodoregamer   Twitter:   / cheekyc64gamer   Facebook:   / cheekycommodoregamer   Discord:   / discord   Website: https://www.cheekycommodoregamer.co.uk #curseoftheazurebonds #commodore64 #goldbox #retrogaming #adnd
