Highland Cathedral – one of the world’s most iconic bagpipe melodies. A powerful blend of Scottish tradition, Celtic emotion, and timeless musical heritage, it is often referred to as the unofficial national anthem of Scotland. Discover this official cover version and experience the spirit of the Highlands. Highland Cathedral - A melody on its secret triumphal journey into the hearts of the world. The story behind the worldwide hit: Michael Korb discovered his passion for the bagpipes at an early age. In 1974, he moved to Berlin and began taking lessons from the Pipe Major of a Scottish battalion — the beginning of an extraordinary musical journey. When the Scots left Germany, Michael followed his heart to Edinburgh, where he practiced daily with the 80 year old master Paddy Atkinson: in the garden shed during the day and in the forest at night to avoid disturbing the neighbors. Over the years, he perfected his playing. His talent did not go unnoticed: Paul Kuhn and Dr. Pröttel introduced him to German television audiences. After releasing his disco single “Dancing Queen of Aberdeen”, Michael met producer and composer Uli Roever in 1979. Together, they created titles such as “Highland Games”, “Lonely Piper”, “Dreamy Island”, and “Devils Dance”. “Dreamy Island” even reached No. 5 on the New Zealand charts in 1981. In 1982, Korb and Roever composed “Highland Cathedral” — now one of the most famous bagpipe melodies in the world, performed by nearly all Scottish pipe bands. By March 2024, the piece had been released more than 1,086 times by other artists. A truly unforgettable moment came at the Deutschland Tattoo in the Veltins Arena, where more than 1,600 musicians performed Highland Cathedral together in the grand finale — with Michael Korb attending as an honored guest. The version in this video was arranged by Ulrich Lautenschläger and partners and remains faithful to the spirit of the original 1982 recording. • powerful bagpipes & orchestral arrangements • Highland atmosphere and cinematic sound • live performance by international Highland Saga artists Keywords: Highland Saga, Scottish music, Celtic rock, bagpipes, Scottish Highlands, live performance, Celtic music, folk rock, cinematic cover If you enjoyed this performance, feel free to support us: 👍 Like 💬 Comment 📤 Share to spread the spirit of the Highlands 🔔 Subscribe :    / highlandsaga   __________________________ Composers: Uli Roever / Michael Korb Publishing: Universal Music - Edition Roma _____________________________________ Producer Show and Event: Ulysses MacKenzie Arranger: Corvin Bahn and Ulysses MacKenzie Director of Music and Keyboard: Corvin Bahn Pipe Major: Ronald A.
