ABC News 10 features Thom & Joyce Gruber on their 70th Anniversary

❤️ 70 YEARS OF LOVE ❤️ On September 1, 2026, Thom & Joyce Gruber, celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary! 💍🥂❤️ SEVENTY YEARS. They first met as teenagers in 1953 at Fontana High School. Thom was a shy 16-year-old who was too nervous to ask Joyce to dance. His best friend, who happened to be Joyce’s cousin, eventually arranged a double date. Three years later, on September 1, 1956, they were married. And today, 70 years later, they are still choosing each other. They have built a family, raised 3 children and 7 grandchildren, built businesses, traveled, made countless memories, weathered life’s greatest joys and deepest losses, and somehow made it all the way to this extraordinary milestone together. It is incredibly rare for a couple to reach 70 years of marriage, and I am so incredibly proud of them. There is also a pretty amazing chapter happening right now. After Joyce needed memory care, Thom, who does not need memory care himself, chose to move into memory care with her because he didn’t want them to have to be apart. When asked why, his answer was simple: “You’re part of each other.” ❤️ And today, something really exciting happened! ABC 10 News San Diego came out to Coronado Retirement Village and spent about an hour interviewing Thom and Joyce for a possible feature! 📺❤️ So today, I’d love to ask everyone who knows and loves my parents to help celebrate this incredible milestone with them.
