Welcome to another beautiful journey through Sri Lanka! 🇱🇰 In this video, join me for a relaxing evening walk through the historic streets of Galle Fort, also known as the Dutch Fort, located on the beautiful southern coast of Sri Lanka. Galle Fort is one of the most fascinating destinations in the country, where centuries of history, colonial architecture, ocean views, local culture and modern life come together in one incredible place. Our journey begins as the afternoon slowly turns into evening. The warm Sri Lankan sunlight falls across the old streets, historic buildings and massive fort walls, creating a beautiful atmosphere for exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Galle Fort is not just a monument or an old military structure. It is a living town where people still live, work, eat, shop and spend their evenings. Walking through the fort feels like travelling through different periods of history. The original fortifications were established by the Portuguese during the 16th century, and the Dutch later expanded and strengthened the fort during the 17th and 18th centuries. The British subsequently took control of Galle, adding another chapter to the history of this remarkable place. Today, the fort preserves elements from all these periods while also reflecting traditional Sri Lankan architecture and lifestyle. As we walk through the narrow streets, you can see beautiful old colonial buildings, wooden doors, windows, balconies, courtyards, churches, cafés, restaurants, boutique hotels, galleries and small shops. Every corner seems to have a story. One of the best things about Galle Fort is that you do not need a complicated itinerary. Simply walking around is an experience in itself. During the evening, the temperature becomes more comfortable and the harsh afternoon sunlight begins to disappear. The streets become quieter and the golden light creates beautiful shadows on the old buildings. ts, visit the historic landmarks, walk along the ramparts and stay for sunset. You will not regret it. Thank you for joining me on this beautiful evening walk through Galle Fort, Galle, Sri Lanka. I hope this video gives you a feeling of what it is like to experience this incredible historic city during the golden hour and after sunset.
