Welcome to Before The Chanting Fades | Prince Far I (1945 ~ 1983) Voice of Thunder Chant | Full Album Tribute 👑🇯🇲. Immerse yourself in a heavy, authentic roots reggae and dub experience, paying homage to one of the most commanding figures in Jamaican music history. If you are searching for the raw, uncompromising sound of 1970s Kingston, you have arrived at the right place. 🔊✨
Born Michael James Williams in 1945, the artist who would become known as Prince Far I began his journey not in a sleek recording studio, but working as a stonemason. This rugged, hard-working background shaped the very foundation of his musical identity. When he stepped behind the microphone, he brought that same solid, unyielding strength to his tracks. He didn't just sing; he chanted with a deep, booming baritone that earned him the legendary title: "The Voice of Thunder." 🎤⛈️
During the golden era of roots reggae and rub-a-dub in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Prince Far I stood out as a deeply spiritual prophet. While others followed commercial trends, he remained anchored in heavy discipline, famously chanting biblical psalms and fierce social commentary over the heaviest riddims coming out of legendary spaces like Channel One and Joe Gibbs studio. His landmark work, such as the Under Heavy Manners era and his collaborations with the UK dub master Adrian Sherwood on the Cry Tuff dub encounters, forever cemented his status as a heavyweight champion of sound system culture. Tragically, his voice was silenced in 1983, but his spiritual message and rolling basslines continue to echo through generations of reggae lovers worldwide. 🕊️🌍
