The Lines Are Blurring in Telecom Cable companies want your wireless business. Wireless companies want your home internet. Fiber networks continue expanding into new markets. And now AT&T and Charter are fighting in federal court over what can be called “fiber-powered.” In this episode of The Dealer Download, powered by RS&I, Michael Shiverdecker looks at three telecom developments that broke within just a few days - and what they reveal about where the industry is heading. AT&T has sued Charter Communications over Spectrum's use of “fiber-powered” to describe broadband delivered over its hybrid fiber-coaxial network, raising an interesting question about how providers describe fiber, cable and the technology actually reaching a customer's home. Meanwhile, Optimum is expanding its relationship with T-Mobile, gaining access to T-Mobile's 5G Standalone network as it continues building a mobile business that has already surpassed 700,000 lines. And TDS Telecom has completed its acquisition of Granite State Communications' fiber and voice operations, adding more than 11,000 fiber service addresses to its New Hampshire footprint while pursuing a much larger long-term fiber expansion strategy. Put the stories together and a bigger trend emerges: The old lines between cable, wireless and fiber are getting harder to see. For Authorized Dealers, that creates more opportunities, but it also makes product knowledge increasingly important. Can your sales team explain the difference between fiber, cable internet and fixed wireless to a customer in 30 seconds without relying on industry jargon? Do they know which connectivity products can be sold together? And when a customer comes in looking for one service, can they recognize the opportunity for another? The companies aren't staying in their traditional lanes anymore. Dealers probably shouldn't either. Subscribe to The Dealer Download for more conversations about telecom, sales, marketing, technology and the opportunities shaping the Authorized Dealer business. Sources I rechecked the main factual claims in the revised script against current sources. The three central developments and the TDS numbers hold up. Your script also carefully presents the AT&T/Charter issue as AT&T's allegation rather than treating it as an established finding, which is the right approach. AT&T Teleholdings Inc. et al. v.
