Paul wrote thirteen letters. Twelve of them open with a thanksgiving. Galatians doesn't — and that silence is the loudest thing in the New Testament.
This is the complete book of Galatians, explained verse by verse, chapter by chapter, from the missing thanksgiving in chapter one to the last word Paul ever wrote to these churches: grace.
Paul had been stoned and left for dead in Lystra for these people. Then other teachers arrived with a message that sounded almost identical to his — Jesus, plus one more requirement. And the Galatians were listening. What Paul wrote back is the most urgent letter in the Bible, and the "Jesus plus" error he was fighting is still alive in almost every Christian life today.
In this study we walk through all six chapters slowly and unhurried:
• Why Paul says even an angel from heaven would be accursed (Galatians 1)
• The silent years in Arabia, and why your hidden season is not wasted
• The confrontation with Peter at the dinner table in Antioch (Galatians 2)
• "I am crucified with Christ" — who loved me, and gave himself for me
• Justified by faith, not by the works of the law
• The curse he became, and what "hanged on a tree" meant to a Jewish reader
• The schoolmaster who was never the teacher (the Greek word paidagogos)
• Abba, Father — adoption, and the heir who lived like a servant
• Stand fast in the liberty, and the yoke that belongs on oxen
• The works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5)
• Bear ye one another's burdens — and the marks Paul carried in his body
