Llanelli and the Autumn Colours of Swiss Valley Cycle Ride

An idyllic autumn cycle ride from Llanelli through Swiss Valley on the disused Llanelli and Mwyn Railway Cycle trail. This trail takes in part of the National Cycle Network route 47. Starting along Llanelli coast just after sunrise in the thick of autumn. The Trail takes us along Swiss Valley visiting an old abandoned brick works, the Cwm Lliedi reservoirs and the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway heritage centre. The autumn leaves lined much of the trail floor which were damn from previous rains that week but this didn't stop that sound of cycle tyres cutting through the leaves. This ride is one of the typical Welsh trails you can find in some of the South Wales valleys. When I had planned this I looked for key points to visit along the way and it didn't disappoint. A crisp day with golden fragile sunlight really made the day with mists hanging low in the fields as I crossed the counties on the train and the sun rising over the hills passing through Neath. This is a relatively gentle and easy trail to cycle with the overall incline not presenting any tough challenge. The railway heritage centre along side the trail is relatively new and fresh and you can see the early days of building a railway centre and new rail being laid further down the line. If you're thinking of riding this trail pick a nice day to enjoy it at it's best unless of course you live for the rain and damp which some of us do. I hope you enjoy this cycle film.
