In Tihar, the first day celebrates Kag Tihar, or the Day of Crows, where crows are offered food as messengers. This is distinct from Diwali’s first day, Dhanteras, which focuses on wealth and prosperity. === Day 2: Kukur Tihar / Naraka Chaturdashi The second day of Tihar honors dogs (Kukur Tihar), celebrating them as protectors and companions. In Diwali, this day is Naraka Chaturdashi, symbolizing the victory of Lord Krishna over the demon Narakasura. === Day 3: Gai Tihar & Laxmi Puja The third day of Tihar honors cows and performs Laxmi Puja, similar to Diwali’s main Laxmi Puja. Houses are decorated with lights and garlands in both festivals, welcoming the goddess of wealth and prosperity. === Day 4: Govardhan Puja or Maha Puja Tihar’s fourth day, known as Govardhan Puja or Maha Puja, celebrates oxen and promotes familial harmony.
