The Hardest Part About Riding Alaska? It’s not the gravel. It’s not the weather. It’s knowing that the riding season is coming to an end. Every fall in Alaska, the colors get more beautiful… and the days I have left to ride get fewer. 🍂 This season didn’t go quite as planned. Between a road trip from Reno, Nevada, back to Alaska, a whole lot of rain, and life bringing its own changes, I spent less time on my Suzuki DR650 than I’d hoped. But looking back, there are some pretty good memories in there. I’m a German rider living in Alaska, and sometimes I still find it hard to believe that I’m riding these incredible roads. Getting out on my DR650 has become more than just a motorcycle ride. It’s time to clear my head, enjoy the moment, and see where the road takes me. Now, as fall turns toward winter, I’m doing what I do every year: counting how many riding days I have left. And no, I’m still not ready to put Olly away. 🏍️ Come along for a ride through fall in Alaska as I reflect on this riding season, the changes life brings, and why I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to the road.
