🐺🖤 AM I THE PROBLEM? | RX-HOWL
What if the person standing in the mirror isn’t your enemy?
“Am I the Problem?” is a song about insecurity, self-hate, comparison, and the voices we carry because of the things society has taught us to believe about ourselves.
We’re constantly told to change. Be thinner. Be prettier. Be stronger. Be more confident, but don’t stand out too much. Love yourself, but only if you fit the version of “acceptable” that everyone else has created.
Eventually, those voices become our own.
And suddenly, you don’t need anyone else to tear you down.
You do it yourself.
This song is about looking in the mirror and asking the hardest question:
Am I the problem?
Or did someone teach me to believe that I was?
Maybe you’re not broken.
Maybe you’re just fucking tired.
And maybe the voice in your head doesn’t get to win anymore.
If this song speaks to you, you're not alone. 🖤

LYRICS — AM I THE PROBLEM?
[Intro — whispered / distorted]
Look in the mirror...
Tell me what you see.
Is it really me?
Or everything they made me believe?
[Verse 1]
I learned to hate the things I couldn't hide,
Count every flaw like a reason I should die inside.
Too loud, too quiet, too much, not enough,
Every little weakness they could see, they called my bluff.
Scroll through a world where perfection's the law,
Everybody beautiful, nobody showing the scars.
So I compare my worst to somebody's best,
Then wonder why I can't stand myself.
They said, "Fix this."
They said, "Change that."
So I turned every mirror into a fucking combat zone.
Now every time I look into my own eyes,
I'm fighting someone I've known my whole life.
[Pre-Chorus]
And I know that voice...
It's been living in my head.
Every word they ever said
Got louder instead.
[Chorus — BIG / melodic]
Am I the problem?
Am I the reason I keep falling apart?
Am I the monster
I've been fighting in the dark?
Every insecurity is screaming,
Every doubt is taking control.
I keep trying to save myself,
But I'm the one holding the knife to my soul.
Am I the problem?
Or did they teach me to hate who I am?
If I could silence every voice,
Would I finally understand?
Maybe I'm not broken...
Maybe I'm just fucking tired.
But every time I look in the mirror—
My insecurities win the fight.
[Verse 2 — faster / rap]
Yeah,
I got a head full of voices and a chest full of doubt,
Every time I build myself, something tears me back down.
Got a list of imperfections running miles in my brain,
And somehow all the compliments just bounce off the same.
"You're too big."
"You're too small."
"You're too sensitive."
"Don't feel at all."
"Be confident."
"But don't stand out."
"Love yourself."
"Just not like that."
How the hell am I supposed to know
Who I'm supposed to be
When everybody keeps handing me
A different version of me?
So I became my own enemy,
Didn't need anybody else.
I learned every weakness,
Memorized them like a weapon on the shelf.
And now I pull the trigger
Every time I say I'm not enough.
Funny how the world can break you
Then blame you for being fucked up.
[Pre-Chorus]
And I know that voice...
It's been living in my head.
Every word they ever said
Got louder instead.
[Chorus]
Am I the problem?
Am I the reason I keep falling apart?
Am I the monster
I've been fighting in the dark?
Every insecurity is screaming,
Every doubt is taking control.
I keep trying to save myself,
But I'm the one holding the knife to my soul.
Am I the problem?
Or did they teach me to hate who I am?
If I could silence every voice,
Would I finally understand?
Maybe I'm not broken...
Maybe I'm just fucking tired.
But every time I look in the mirror—
My insecurities win the fight.
[Bridge — stripped back / vulnerable]
What if I'm not ugly?
What if I'm not weak?
What if all the things I hate
Are just the things they taught me to see?
What if I'm enough?
What if I always was?
What if the enemy I see
Was never really me?
...maybe it's the voice.
[Final Chorus — explosive]
AM I THE PROBLEM?!
Or am I just carrying what they left behind?
All these fucking voices
Turning their opinions into mine.
Every insecurity is screaming,
But tonight I'm screaming back.
You don't get to define me.
You don't get to tell me I'm damaged.
Am I the problem?
Maybe that's the question I should change.
Instead of asking what's wrong with me,
I'll ask who taught me to feel this way.
Maybe I'm not broken...
Maybe I'm just fucking tired.
And every time I look in the mirror—
I WON'T LET MY INSECURITIES WIN THE FIGHT.
[Outro — whispered]
Look in the mirror.
...
That's still me.
And maybe...
that's enough.
