WHY DOES THE MOON CHANGE SHAPE? | Moon Phases for Kids | COSMOLINGS

Is the Moon shrinking?! One night he's a thin sliver, two weeks later he's a full circle. In this episode: Earth thinks the Moon is shrinking — and the Moon gets worried! Sun explains with a ball and a lamp: one half is always bright, the other half is always dark. As the Moon goes around Earth, we see that bright half from different sides. New moon, half moon, full moon… each one is a phase. The Moon never changes shape! Science word: phase Real fact: The Sun always lights one half of the Moon. As the Moon orbits Earth, we see different amounts of that lit half — the phases repeat about every 29.5 days, about a month.
