Anemia can strain the heart by reducing oxygen delivery to tissues and increasing cardiac output, leading to an increased risk of heart failure and other cardiovascular problems. 7. *Calcium and Phosphate Imbalance:* CKD can disrupt the balance of calcium and phosphate in the body, leading to vascular calcification. Calcification of the blood vessels increases the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular events. 8. *Uremic Toxins:* Accumulation of uremic toxins in the bloodstream, resulting from impaired kidney function, can have toxic effects on the cardiovascular system, contributing to inflammation, oxidative stress, and endothelial dysfunction. 9. *Salt and Fluid Restriction:* Dietary restrictions commonly recommended for CKD management, such as limiting salt and fluid intake, can affect blood pressure regulation and fluid balance, potentially influencing cardiovascular health.
