Navaratri Special: The Divine Worship of Goddess Durga
Navaratri is one of the most sacred and beautiful festivals dedicated to Goddess Durga and the divine feminine power. The word Navaratri means “nine nights.” During these nine auspicious days, devotees worship the nine forms of Goddess Durga, seeking her blessings for peace, strength, wisdom, prosperity, and happiness.
Each day of Navaratri is dedicated to a different form of the Goddess. The nine forms are Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. Each form represents unique divine qualities and reminds devotees of the power of faith, courage, devotion, and righteousness.
During Navaratri, temples and homes are decorated with flowers, lamps, rangoli, and beautiful arrangements. Devotees perform special pujas, chant sacred mantras, recite Durga Saptashati, sing devotional songs, and offer prayers to the Goddess. Many people observe fasting and follow spiritual practices to deepen their devotion and discipline.
Navaratri also symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Goddess Durga represents the strength that protects righteousness and helps devotees face life's difficulties with courage and confidence. Her divine presence inspires people to overcome fear, remove negative thoughts, and develop compassion, patience, and inner strength.
