Aycliffe Bus Museum Open Day Durham & Darlington Running Event April 2026 Bishop Food Festival #bus

Just had another fantastic day out at Aycliffe Bus Museum, the organisers and volunteers did a fine job of keeping the wheels turning with an excellent timetable with varied routes around County Durham, from local Newton Aycliffe town service loops and got visitors to events such as Bishop Auckland Food Festival, or Hopetown Museum in Darlington. They had even arranged the sunshine to stay shining bright for the whole event and using the dedicated bus stop outside the museum on the main road which created a lot of photo opportunities and organisation for passengers to choose and board from the pavement which in turn created a dedicated static display area in the museum compound. A good turn out of guest vehicles vintage and modern, even, and also a brand new Yutong coach, also of interest was a freshly purchased in fact just last week modern classic Daf East Lancs Lowlander driven up from Taunton for preservation by a local enthusiast to stay in the region, which also carried out service runs and even the last service return to Redcar. Most importantly there was a great turn out of visitors too, not just bus spotters / enthusiasts but families with children and most where carrying a toy bus, (the children) and enjoying the ride and sounds and new noises with smells of yesteryear these little people are the future of the interest of keeping bus preservation history in the public eye to enjoy for years to come.
