This video explores a handicrafts exhibition in Hamedan, where different regions of Iran present their traditional crafts. One of the main highlights of this exhibition is a pottery booth belonging to Lalejin, Hamedan, which is widely recognized as the center of pottery and ceramics in this region. In this booth from Lalejin, Hamedan, I had the opportunity to try a basic pottery experience and learn how traditional pottery techniques are practiced. Even though the exhibition is located in Hamedan city, the pottery booth clearly represents the traditional craft of Lalejin, which is famous for its ceramic heritage. Lalejin, located roughly 20–25 kilometers north of Hamedan, is widely known as the pottery capital of Iran. The city has a long tradition of ceramic craftsmanship, with many families involved in pottery for generations. Because of this cultural background, pottery made in Lalejin is often presented in exhibitions held in Hamedan, giving visitors a general introduction to its ceramic tradition even without traveling there. Throughout the exhibition, you will also see several other booths from Lalejin, Hamedan, as well as traditional crafts from different regions of Iran, including knife-making from Zanjan, leatherwork from Golestan Province, ceramics from Karaj, handmade crafts from Saravan in Sistan & Baluchestan, and traditional pottery styles from Mazandaran. However, the pottery booths representing Lalejin, Hamedan remain the main focus and cultural highlight of this video. If you enjoy traditional handicrafts, cultural experiences, and pottery, this video gives you a close look at how Lalejin’s pottery is presented within the cultural environment of Hamedan. *Please note:* one of the Instagram handles burned into the video (the one related to the pottery booth where I made the vase) is misspelled.
