Somerset Monsters YH Round 4 2023

We hit the water for Round 4 of the @yakhuntersaustralia competition at Lake Somerset in QLD. The target for this round was the mighty Yellowbelly with the bonus species being Aussie Bass. Weather conditions were hot, overcast and humid , with a small but dedicated field set to do battle. We set out for a pre-fish in less than ideal conditions and broke the shaft on our pedal drive, and managed to limp home. Being prepared was key and the spare pedal drive was a god send and allowed us to compete the next two days without complication. While the majority of the field concentrated on vertical jigging, we persisted with this for far to long before reverting back to what we know best and a late charge to the line in the last two hours saw us failing to convert the last two bites which wold have rattled the leaderboard in the dying minutes, however this was not to be. An awesome weekend on the water, as always the competition aspect is a not with other anglers but more a competition within yourself and helps you to focus, take stock and grow as an angler, especially for a species not targeted regularly.
