Is Chanting Enough? One Daimoku Is Enough, a Million Is Not

Everyone asks it sooner or later. Is chanting really enough? Shouldn't I understand more of this first? The answer is yes. And it is also not the whole answer. In this talk we sit with a saying that refuses to resolve: one daimoku is enough, and a million is not enough. One is enough because nothing is missing from it. A million is not enough because a life takes a lifetime. Both halves are true at once, and learning to hold them together without picking one is most of what this path asks of us. We look at why understanding is not required at the beginning, how something small can hold something whole, why counting is fine but is not the point, and why practice is never one and done.
