The U.S. decision to lift sanctions on Russian diesel imports has become one of the most hotly debated topics at this year's Warsaw Security Forum. U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of an energy truce between Russia and Ukraine also came as a surprise, including to the parties directly involved. At the same time, General Alexus Grynkewich unveiled NATO's strategy for responding to a potential Russian attack on the Alliance. “I have no doubt that the U.S. would respond to any potential violation of Article 5,” says Michał Baranowski, Polish Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Technology, in an interview with Klaudia Czerwińska on TVP World. According to Baranowski, NATO's commitment to collective defense remains unquestionable despite the ongoing political debate surrounding U.S. policy toward Russia. Baranowski also expressed surprise at Washington's decision on Russian diesel, arguing that the economic rationale behind the move remains unclear.
