I’m Forging the Master Sword from Ocarina of Time Remake | Part 1, Design and Blade

One of my most requested blades, the Master Sword. Possibly among the most iconic blades in gaming history. And with the Ocarina of Time remake on the horizon, I decided it was time to forge my own. In Part One of this build, I’m taking on the challenge of recreating the Master Sword as faithfully as possible while still making it a real, functional forged blade. I start by breaking down the design, looking at the details that make the Ocarina of Time Master Sword so recognizable, and figuring out how to translate a video game weapon into something that can actually be forged. Then it’s into the forge. I’ll be forging out the blade from 5160 steel, shaping the profile and establishing the geometry that will eventually become the finished sword. But this is only the beginning. I’m leaving the heat treatment, grinding, polishing, guard, handle, and all of the finishing work for the upcoming episodes. There’s still a LONG way to go before this becomes the Master Sword.
