A Heart Check with Jesus

What is the condition of your heart? In this message, we take an honest look at our hearts through Jesus' Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13. Through this powerful teaching, we discover how the Kingdom of God works and how our hearts can either receive or resist God's Word. 📖 Key Scripture: Matthew 13:3-9 (HCSB) In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus describes four different kinds of soil: • Seed Along the Path – The Hardened Heart • Seed on Rocky Ground – The Shallow Heart • Seed Among Thorns – The Distracted Heart • Seed on Good Ground – The Receptive Heart Jesus explains that the seed represents the Word of God, the sower represents the one sharing God's message, and the soils represent the condition of our hearts. The key truth: There is power in the seed, but the result depends on the soil. Have life's disappointments, pain, distractions, or the opinions of others hardened your heart? Have you ever heard God's Word, nodded in agreement, and then done nothing with it? This message challenges us to examine our hearts and ask: • Which soil best describes me in this season? • Where have I felt trampled by life? • What causes hearts to become hard? • What happens to God's Word after I hear it? Remember, the Sower scatters seed generously—even in places that don't seem promising. God's grace continues to pursue us, and He desires to cultivate good soil in every heart. Application Challenge: After hearing God's Word, take 10 minutes to reflect and let the seed sink in. Write down one sentence: "This is what I will do with this word."
