First of all, a quick shout-out to Lukozer and his review for inspiring me to play this again. Of the half dozen playthroughs I've done this week, this one today was by far the fastest too, although perhaps not the most interesting of final battles if I'm honest. I went with the PC version simply because it's faster, harder (the enemy carrier in particularly is much more aggressive), and doesn't have any of the annoying bugs the ST & Amiga versions both have. It's not without it's glitches, however, not least that using the Command Centre Virus Bomb will sometimes lock the game and launching Walrus AAVs while the carrier is in motion can force an exit to DOS. Still, you can work round these little problems by simply avoiding doing either of those things. (=^_^=) One of the basic tactics I employ is making full use of the ability to send the Manta aircraft plus accompanying Walruses far from the ACC Epsilon as I simultaneously take islands in the opposite direction. Doing this, it's actually possible to take twice as many islands in the same space of time and reach the center of the map before the ACC Omega does. Then, by sailing in the opposite direction with my carrier, I pretty much goad the enemy carrier into attacking Stavros, one of my recently constructed defence islands - around the 50-odd minute mark - lying in wait with a full complement of Mantas on the runway there. I manage to locate him pretty quickly to the east soon after with the loss of only one aircraft, sending in the remaining three to take him down in short order while his aircraft are mostly occupied with the drones on the island. (^w^) To be fair, it doesn't always go so well and indeed, in my earlier attempts, all manner of things went wrong (becoming isolated from base; running out of fuel, not stockpiling the right equipment, etc.). It's bad enough the enemy carrier doesn't appear on radar at all, sometimes he will literally ambush your carrier out of the blue, something that proves disasterous if you have the Time Warp function enabled at the time. Even if you are ready for him, his aircraft and surface to surface missiles can make short work of you, which is why I usually try to take him on near one of my islands, distracting him long enough to sneak up on and finish him off. The only real advantage you have over him is the laser cannon, although you'll need to get in close to hit him with it. (^_^) Being such a huge fan of this strategy game, I've also done a commentary of the main points of my playthrough, once again over on PantherUK's own channel:-    • Passion For Games  - Episode 03 - Carrier ...
