The sky was blue all day... so why does it turn orange at sunset? Peep the chick finds out! 🐥🌅 In this calm, simple science video for kids aged 6 to 8, we picture light as a stream of tiny coloured balls from the Sun, and air as tiny, tiny bits. Blue bounces off the air the most; scientists call that scattering. Then we zoom out to the whole Earth in its blanket of air. At lunchtime, sunlight takes a short road through the air. At sunset it comes in sideways, along a long, long road with many more air bits. On the way, blue bounces away first, then green, then some of the yellow, and mostly orange and red make it all the way to us. That's the sunset! We finish with a sunset on the Moon, where there's no air, then a "Your Turn!" quiz to pause and answer. ✨ In this video • A quick look back: why the sky is blue (scattering) • Short road at noon, long road at sunset (count the air bits!) • Why blue drops out first and orange and red make it • Why the clouds glow orange and pink • A sunset on the Moon • A pause-and-answer quiz 📖 Chapters 0:00 Why is the sunset orange? 0:19 1. Let's Remember 👨‍👩‍👧 For grown-ups Calm narration, no loud noises, no scary surprises. The "light balls" are a picture, not the whole story. The real idea is that air scatters short wavelengths far more than long ones (Rayleigh scattering), and near the horizon sunlight crosses dozens of times more air than at noon. The air layer in the video is drawn much thicker than it really is so the roads fit on screen. The Sun itself doesn't change colour; the quiz gently corrects that idea. Afterwards, watch a real sunset together and look for the pink and orange clouds. 🔔 Subscribe to Toonibee Tales for more learning videos, bedtime stories and sing-along rhymes. #science #sunset #kidsscience
