Leonard Heuss: 'Cafe le Soir'. Nocturne Nr 1 opus 19 in F minor for Piano solo.

A character piece reminiscent to Frederic Chopin's nocturnal pieces also known as Nocturnes. In my view the term 'nocturne' suits this kind of pieces well: pieces with a quite and more dreamlike character. The piece dwells on the resonances felt with the life of my Ditch compatriot and artist Vincent Van Gogh. An artistic late bloomer that found his inspiration far away from home in the countryside of France. In this piece I felt the sweet solitude and even loneliness that liberates and purifies my art and soul, like a catharsis. The work is dedicated to long time friend Mary Petre, who understands exactly what I mean.
