Our enemy ships have learned a few new tricks!
Over the last week, I’ve been putting together the enemy behavior system for our Shmup and making it easy to tweak in the Godot editor. Custom resources define whether a ship stays put and shoots or tracks the player around the screen. A few high-level behaviors, combined with more detailed customization options, give us a surprising amount of variety.
We’ll walk through the design goals and how the system works in code, demonstrate the prototype so far, and potentially add some new behaviors along the way.
As always, this is a live dev hangout, and the Shmup is our jumping-off point. Bring your questions about Godot, gaming, and game development! I’m happy to follow the conversation, get distracted, or pull up the vertical slice RPG or Mega Man projects if there’s something we want to explore.
