I wanted to capture the feeling of childhood wonder mixed with the bittersweet mystery of something precious that's been almost forgotten. You'll hear the Lost Things motif woven throughout the piece on the celeste and glockenspiel and on the woodwinds. It is the main motif of this album. I intentionally kept the melody playful and innocent while giving the harmony just enough ambiguity to hint that something isn't quite right beneath the surface. Rather than leaning into dark fantasy, I wanted this cue to feel whimsical, nostalgic, and a little mysterious. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
