I got up Snowdon fine. Getting down was the problem.
We climbed Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) on a wet September day, up the Miners' Track from Pen y Pass. The forecast gave us no chance of staying dry, and it was right. At the summit, we were in the clouds, and that turned out to be a good thing. I couldn't see how far down the drops were.
Then I had to get off the mountain, and that's where it fell apart. I don't do well near edges. Going face first down the mountain was not happening.
This video is what happened next: the panic at the top, the sold-out train, the standby list, and the easy path that all four of us forgot about.
MY TIPS
If sharp drops and scrambling aren't for you, use the Llanberis Path. It's longer and much gentler, and it starts in the village rather than at Pen y Pass
Don't count on the train to rescue you. They don't usually sell one way tickets down. I was put on a standby list and got lucky
Choose your route up AND your route down. Do your own research
At the cafe go for the tea. The coffee at the top is £4.50 and not worth it, and they can't fill your water bottle, so bring what you need.
