In this video I have a look at the new piano released by Rhodes, the stage 61. Please do let me know what you think of it? Too expensive? Too short? or just right? I have seen "refurbished" mk1 pianos advertised way more expensive than this and this is brand new. It is an exciting time for electric pianos as we get more options and new designs come out. In summary I didn't understand this piano when I first heard of its release - but I think it answers most of the comments people make about the mk8 piano. This is massively cheaper but apart from a few less keys appears to be the same quality. My guess is that design for manufacture has allowed for a more competitive price. It should be interesting if this dents the second hand market for electric pianos. Tines have only a finite life so getting a new piano at this price is great value, having refurbished my own mk1 suitcase and having to deal with mould, missing parts, dodgy wiring, rusty tines and voicing. I was lucky as there were no dead animals but I have seen some horrors.
