The CharDham Yatra is a pilgrimage to four holy sites in Uttarakhand: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. It is a popular Hindu pilgrimage believed to cleanse one of sins and is typically undertaken from April to September. The journey is often completed in a clockwise direction, starting with Yamunotri and ending with Badrinath.   Key aspects of the CharDham Yatra The Four Pilgrimage Sites: Yamunotri: Dedicated to the goddess Yamuna; the first stop and requires a trek.  Gangotri: Dedicated to Goddess Ganga, and considered the source of the river.  Kedarnath: A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas; requires a trek or helicopter ride.  Badrinath: A temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.  Timing:  The yatra is best undertaken between May and June and again in September to October to avoid the monsoon season.  Route:  A common route starts from Haridwar, then proceeds to Yamunotri, followed by Gangotri, Kedarnath, and finally Badrinath.  Significance:  Undertaking the yatra is a significant spiritual and religious duty for many Hindus, believed to lead to moksha (salvation).  Alternatives:  Due to time constraints, some may opt for a Do Dham Yatra, a pilgrimage to only two of the four shrines.
