Transfer Trail to Blair Mountain Trail - Epic Colorado Overlanding Adventure

Transfer Trail is one of Colorado's premier backcountry overlanding routes. Day 3 of our 7-day trip took us up Transfer Trail, over Blair Mountain's summit with absolutely insane 360-degree views, and into camp at Adams Lake in the Flat Tops Wilderness area. THE ROUTE: Transfer Trail is a long, rugged backcountry connector with serious elevation gain. Rocky sections, narrow shelf roads, and technical challenges mixed with smoother forest roads. The payoff at Blair Mountain summit makes every mile worth it. PLANNING YOUR TRIP: This is legit backcountry - plan for no services, spotty cell coverage, and self-recovery capability. Adams Lake offers solid camping with incredible scenery. Best run as part of a multi-day Flat Tops loop.
