"Conquer yourself!"
This is the culmination of my entire musical career in so many ways. I couldn't be prouder of this one (well maybe if MuseSounds for the suspended cymbal worked lol). Forgive me if I don't have much more to say about the arrangement itself.
I don't expect the Dark Link fight in the remake to have its own battle theme, but it should. However, this arrangement is more than just "Here's what I think would be a good battle theme for Dark Link", in fact, I think it'd be a pretty awful battle theme, because it can't repeat. the structure is set up in a way to tell a progressing story, which can't easily be looped.
I'm sure there are several analyses of Dark Link, so I'll keep this brief, but to me, this fight is one of the largest climaxes of the game. The game about growing up and changing, and you end up fighting and conquering all of your flaws and all the evil within you. It's not some other entity, it is you. Your evil. It's as if this room was designed to purify the Hero of Time for the final stretch of their journey. In a way, it's very religious and spiritual.
Once you have been cleansed—baptized even? I mean, it is the Water Temple, and a room filled with Water —it doesn't matter whether you have traveled forward or backward in time, it doesn't matter whether you're a child or an adult, you have the power to save the world. It's no surprise that after this, the remaining temples require you to use all the strengths of childhood and adulthood to get through them.
