Old school gospel blues with handclaps, stomping floorboards and a full quartet — an up-tempo shuffle about a house that carried a hard week and sang anyway. Saturday the walls were quiet. The bills were high and nobody had much left to say. Then Sunday came up through the window, somebody hummed it down the hall, and before the coffee hit the cup the whole front room had answered. Ain't a preacher in the building. Just a floor that knows the sound. [Verse 1] Saturday the walls were quiet Nobody had much left to say Bills stacked up on the table And we carried it another day But Sunday came up through the window And somebody hummed it down the hall [Pre-Chorus] Somebody found the first note Somebody hummed the second Before the coffee hit the cup The whole front room had answered [Chorus] Let the whole house sing Let the floorboards keep the time Let the tired hands clap Let the old song find the line We ain't got much but we got morning And a reason to stand and sing So let the whole house Let the whole house sing [Verse 2] Grandma's chair still knows the rhythm The children found it on their own Kettle's on, the door is open Nobody's doing this alone The same walls that heard us worry Gonna hear us carry on [Verse 3] Neighbors heard it through the siding Miss Ella opened up her door Said y'all started without me Then she sang it louder than before Ain't a preacher in the building Just a floor that knows the sound [Bridge] Who taught this house to sing? The Lord put it in the wood Then let it ring till Monday Sing it while we're standing good And when the week comes back around? We'll still know where the song is found [Outro] Same house. Same week. Different sound. Original song and artwork by Pewlight — Vintage Gospel. #gospelblues #oldschoolgospel #handclapgospel
