Macau — Mid Autumn Festival Night Walk 2026 🏮【4K HDR】| Senado Square & Historic Centre Lanterns

Macau 🇲🇴 does Mid Autumn Festival differently. The city doesn't just put up a few lanterns — it turns its UNESCO World Heritage heart into a glowing, lantern-lit wonderland, lighting up 89 locations across the city. We start at the Leal Senado Building and Senado Square, the beating heart of Macau's old town. This is where the city's biggest Mid-Autumn installation sits — a giant lotus lantern at the centre of the square, Macau's official floral emblem, with its petals layered open in a play of light and shadow. Smaller flower lanterns and pairs of chubby rabbit lanterns surround it, and a yellow light tunnel stretches towards the classical buildings on either side, making the whole square feel like it's glowing from within. From there, we walk up towards the Ruins of St. Paul's. The facade is lit up, and the square in front is decorated with "Macau" light installations in colourful tile patterns, alongside lotus and rabbit lanterns. Then we make our way down Rua de São Paulo, the famous souvenir street that leads from the Ruins of St. Paul's back towards the old town. It's packed with shops selling beef jerky, almond cakes and egg rolls, with owners calling out free samples as you pass. We finish at Largo da Sé. The square in front is dressed in festive lights, the lanterns reflecting off the black-and-white cobblestones and the fountain at its centre. The Cathedral itself — Macau's mother church, with its neoclassical facade and light green interior — stands quietly at the end of the walk, a calm finish after the crowds and the glow.
