Maddox Jolie at 25: The Untold Story Behind His New Name

At 25, Maddox Jolie has quietly entered a new chapter of his life. On September 14, 2026, a Los Angeles court approved Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt's request to legally change his name to Maddox Chivan Jolie. But the story behind that decision goes far beyond a famous Hollywood surname. Born in Cambodia and adopted by Angelina Jolie as a baby, Maddox grew up inside one of the most famous families in the world. He became the oldest of six children and spent his childhood under intense public attention. As he grew older, however, his path began to look very different from the typical Hollywood celebrity story. He studied at Yonsei University in South Korea. He became involved in filmmaking at a young age, including work on First They Killed My Father, the film directed by Angelina Jolie about Cambodia's history under the Khmer Rouge. Later, he continued working behind the camera and began developing his own professional identity. He has also explored aviation and other interests outside the entertainment spotlight. Now, at 25, Maddox has legally chosen the name Maddox Chivan Jolie. What does this change mean? The answer is not as simple as the headlines suggest. Maddox has not publicly explained every personal reason behind his decision. What we can document is his journey from a child adopted from Cambodia to an adult building a life, career, and identity of his own. This is the story of Maddox at 25. From Cambodia to Hollywood. From Angelina Jolie's son to a young man finding his own direction. And from a famous family name to a name he chose for himself.
