In the original Japanese release, the official track name is 戦慄の刻 with the kanji character 刻 being pronounced as とき (Toki) meaning the concept of time, a moment, or occasion. This is important to note because that's where the "Time" in Thrilling Time comes from but what about the use of the word "thrilling"? In the English release, the song 戦慄の刻 was rather poorly translated as just "Thrilling", this is related to the first word used in the original Japanese title 戦慄 (Senritsu). 戦慄 is a little hard to explain because there exists no concrete way to directly translate it as an English term, it can only be describe through the context it which it is used so I will try to explain this term not through hard-line definitions but rather through the emotion or emotions it conveys. First off, let's note that the English word 'thrilling' has a positive connotation to it, the adrenaline pumping through your veins as an exciting, hopeful adventure unfolds or the dazzling speed, twists, and turns of a fancy roller coaster aren't necessarily bad either. This what makes the foundation of even the official English title worst because in Japanese 戦慄 can best be describe in English as the act of trembling in fear or shuddering as a result from a form dismay whether through the aforementioned fear or disgust. Now this inspires a negative connotation in which the theoretical person in our extended example doesn't want this situation to conspire or continue. 'The anxiety of a horrible event that just occurred' is also a possible example and thus the use of this term in Japanese could range from fairly 7-10 on a scale importance. That is why it is imperative for translation's sake to look at the context of the term being use to figure the seriousness or degree of the entire sentence and more broadly, the entire situation. In the context of DBZ, I'd say it is the fear of an opponent's power and thus the hero of this example is 'shuddering' in fear. Whew! With that long-winded explanation out of the way, let's slap these two terms together at last and see the fusion we get! 戦慄の刻 (Senritsu no Toki) translates as 'In Times of Shudder'... Well, that's a little unsatisfying and it doesn't make much since in the English language but now that we know the definitions of 戦慄 (Senritsu) & 刻 (Toki) and grated the reader has prior knowledge of the character 'の', we can make our own titles, phooey on that online translator!"
