Seattle led 20-6 at halftime after three Los Angeles turnovers, and the second-half rally never fully closed the gap. What went wrong: Justin Herbert threw a pick on the first snap (Drake Thomas). Sam Darnold answered with an interception of his own (Tuli Tuipulotu), and Cameron Dicker’s 40-yard field goal put LA up 3-0. Derius Davis muffed the next punt. Seattle recovered, and Emanuel Wilson scored on a 23-yard catch from Darnold on the next play. Herbert’s second interception, to Ernest Jones IV, set up Wilson’s 8-yard rushing touchdown. Those first-half giveaways turned into 14 Seattle points. Ladd McConkey (foot) and Joe Alt (neck) were out, and Derwin James was inactive. Travis Burke filled in at right tackle. Seattle’s backup run game still did the damage: Wilson had two touchdowns, Rashid Shaheed added a 28-yard rushing score, and Tory Horton’s 6-yard catch opened the second half. What went right: Dicker was reliable (40- and 39-yard field goals), and Khalil Mack got a sack. The offense finally moved after halftime: an 11-play, 81-yard drive ended with Herbert to Kimani Vidal for 9 yards, then a 16-play, 85-yard drive finished with Omarion Hampton’s 2-yard run to make it 30-20. LA was 2-for-2 in the red zone on those drives. Seattle’s penalties and a missed Jason Myers extra point kept the door cracked, but not open long enough.
