Every time you pull a weed out by the roots, you bring up the next crop. The dirt in your flowerbed holds seed that has been waiting down there for years, some of it for up to 40, and yanking a weed drags that seed up into the light. My people never pulled weeds. They used a light, sharp hoe that skims half an inch under the dirt and cuts the weeds off without ever opening the ground.
In this video I will show you the whole old way. It costs about $40 one time, against a $25 jug of weed killer you buy again every spring. There are four things to learn, covering your beds, the bare dirt you cannot hoe every week, the cracks in your patio, and your lawn. There is also one step almost everybody skips, and it is the reason most folks try a hoe once and give up on it. I will tell you straight where my way falls short, and why nobody much bothers to teach it anymore.
