The LC75823 — Exploring the Display Driver of the Blaupunkt Porto CD34

In this video, we take a closer look at the LC75823 LCD display driver used in the Blaupunkt Porto CD34 car radio. The LC75823 is a 1/3-duty general-purpose LCD driver designed for microprocessor-controlled radio applications, and it can directly drive up to 156 LCD segments. I examine the display panel of the Blaupunkt Porto CD34, the LC75823 driver IC, its connections to the LCD, and how this rather interesting circuit is responsible for controlling the information shown on the radio's front panel. We also take a closer look at the construction of the LCD panel, including the conductive rubber contacts and the acrylic glass, as well as some of the differences and details found when comparing the actual circuit with the available schematics.
