When you buy a new catamaran your initial reaction is to add every option available. However, if you're new to boat ownership, like we were, you need to step back and think about how you're going to use the boat for the next few years. We believe in living by the KISS (keep it simple, stupid) principle. Thus, when we purchased our Leopard 45 catamaran in 2018, we chose factory and after-market options based on our intention to sail in the Chesapeake Bay for the first two years. After cruising in the Chesapeake, we gained a better understanding of our needs and wants for living on a boat. Based on that understanding, we were able to cross off several of our initial wants. We outfitted our catamaran with the following 5 additional items for coastal cruising and cruising in the Bahamas: a new freezer unit, additional trunk space in the engine compartment, new hardware and software for navigation, folding propellers, and a scuba tank rack. We begin by providing you with a quick list of the factory and after-market items we initially chose to give you a understanding of what we had. Then, we provide details on why and how we chose the 5 items that we added. And, we even provide details on how you can build and install the engine compartment trunks that we added.
