Alhamdulillah, I had the honour of delivering the Friday Khutbah at the Islamic Academy & Dawah Centre (IADC). *How do you know whether you're genuinely confident or simply deluded about your own abilities?* Confidence is important, but when self-belief becomes arrogance, when criticism feels like an attack, and when everybody else is always the problem, we may have crossed the line from confidence into delusion. In this khutbah, we explore the fine line between **confidence, overconfidence, arrogance and delusion**, drawing upon the Qur'ān, the Dunning–Kruger effect and the growing prevalence of narcissistic tendencies in society. We discussed: 🧠 The Dunning–Kruger effect — why we sometimes don't know how little we know 🪞 How to recognise arrogance and narcissistic tendencies, including within ourselves ⚖️ The difference between healthy confidence and delusion 👂 Why our response to criticism reveals so much about our ego 📖 The Islamic understanding of kibr (arrogance) and humility 💪 Building genuine confidence through competence rather than compliments *The most dangerous form of delusion isn't believing you're better than everybody else. It's believing you're incapable of being wrong.* 🕌 *Location:* Islamic Academy & Dawah Centre (IADC) 🗓️ *Occasion:* Jumu‘ah Khutbah 🎙️ *Delivered by:* Qari Armaan *Timestamps:* 00:00 Khutbah 28:15 Ṣalāh 📚 *Watch more of my Khutbahs:* https://ReciteWithUs.com/Khutbah/ 💬 *Share your reflections:* How do you distinguish genuine confidence from arrogance? May Allah grant us confidence without arrogance, humility without insecurity, and the wisdom to recognise our strengths and weaknesses. Āmīn.
