Driving Through a GIANT Natural Arch in China | Zhangjiajie’s Hidden Canyon Road

Join me on a self-drive journey deep into the mountains of Sangzhi County, Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China. This route begins near Sangzhi and continues toward Wudaoshui Town, where I drive beneath the spectacular Moon Cave, a huge natural passage formed through the mountain. The opening is often described as roughly 90 meters high, 30 meters wide, and 70 meters deep — large enough for the narrow mountain road to pass directly beneath it. From Moon Cave, I continue deeper into the remote mountains toward Huangliantai Grand Canyon, near the northern source area of the Lishui River and the outskirts of the Badagongshan nature reserve. The road becomes increasingly remote, passing through dense forest, steep canyon walls, mountain streams, small villages, and rough rural roads. Huangliantai is known for its clear water, waterfalls, deep pools, lush vegetation, and largely undeveloped canyon scenery. This is not a typical tourist route.
