After this episode, you’ll be able to introduce yourself at work, ask how things work, and ask for help in your first week.
This is 12 short English conversations at A1-A2, spoken slowly by two voices, with every sentence on screen, so it works for focused listening, for reading along, or in the background.
This episode is for you if you’re an A1-A2 learner who understands more English than you can say. It helps you hear everyday workplace English in real situations, so you can start using it naturally without turning practice into a grammar lesson.
🎧 In this episode, you'll practise:
• “Nice to meet you too.” — a simple, friendly way to introduce yourself on your first day
• “I’m looking for the kitchen.” — asking for a place when you are new and not sure where things are
• “You’re welcome to join.” — understanding an invitation to lunch and how people include you at work
• “I can’t get in.” — asking for help when a login or system problem stops you working
• “Could you write that down?” — asking clearly for important information when a schedule changes
• “Can I claim that back?” — asking about expenses and money for travel in a polite way
• “Can you show me again?” — asking for help again without giving up
• “Five means five here.” — understanding workplace culture around leaving on time
• “How did I do?” — asking for feedback at the end of your first week
This episode is built around your first week at an English-speaking job: meeting people, finding places, learning the system, asking questions, and understanding how the workplace works. It’s worth hearing because these are exactly the small conversations that make your first days easier and help you feel part of the team.
Keep listening for the later conversation about a changed Friday finish time — “I booked a train” turns into a very real workplace problem.
📝 How to learn more from this episode:
• First, listen once without stopping and notice which work situations you already understand well.
• On your second listen, pause after lines like “What happens first?” or “Can you show me again?” and say them aloud with the same rhythm.
• Choose three sentences from the list above that would help you in a new job, and practise using them today.
• Come back tomorrow and listen again — first-week phrases stick much better when you hear them more than once.
Listen English Today is here to help as many people as possible actually speak English in everyday life, not only understand it.
