the dancers in this video are Yar, Akon, and Akech John Majok Tuil. None of them was born in South Sudan but they are now the real symbol of how a Dinka Bor/Twic girl in her late teen and 20th would look many years ago. Thanks to their mother and Aunty who mentored them to wear these again in Australia. Making this beads take time and it can also be expensive to buy them. i met them in Brisbane and here is how they performed a song at the park on 11/03/2018.
Dinka communities like many of African societies have in one way or the other used beads decorate or adored their men and women. In Dinka Bor area, beads were used to distinguish generations and different age groups.
