On Wednesday the 7th of October 2026, as prt of a positioning move from Crewe to Orton Mere, Great Western Railway King Class 4-6-0 number 6024 "King Edward I" one of the three surviving members of the largest of the GWR express passenger locomotive class, made a historic journey along the Trent Valley Line (the first member of the class to do so) This being my first chance to see a King in action, I duly made my way to the station and set my cameras up on the London platform (Platform 2)
The King arrived slightly late but putting on a fine show at exactly the same time as a North bound freight passed through on the Down Slow (Crewe bound) line.
As I was already at the station, I waited for a Colas Rail operated HST that was due through a short while later which has been included in this video as well as some of the service trains that passed during my time at the station though only from 1 of my action cameras as the second one did not record this time.
As usual, the video ends with stills taken from my main camera.
Enjoy,
Dale.
